After attending our friends’ wedding in Chicago during the Memorial Day Weekend, we spent Memorial Day itself in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Neither Meredith nor I had ever been to Michigan, and Ann Arbor is home to Hollanders, my wife’s favorite bookbinding supply store. Since it was kinda on the way home from Chicago, we decided to make the stop.
We pulled in on Sunday afternoon and essentially made a beeline to the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum (that’s a mouthful), because their peony exhibit was in full swing. They have the largest collection of heirloom peonies in North America, and it was amazing.
When it was all said and done, however, this one stood out among the hundreds we saw. I can’t even believe this is a photograph, it looks so good. So, of course, I had to share.
