Tuesday Flickr Foto Dump: Stairway to Heaven edition

I had a great Saturday in D.C. this weekend. An old friend from Silver City is a fellow at the National Academies of Science, and she’s spending four months here in the city. With our busy schedules, of course, it’s been hard getting together, but Saturday the stars aligned.

Being a fellow, she was able to secure free parking downtown (something I’m looking to take advantage of in the future) at the NAS building on 5th St. She took me for a tour, and showed me the spiral staircase seen above.

From there, we walked past Marshall Park and the Reflecting Pool on our way to the national Botanic Gardens. We saw some baby ducks, and then the wonderful bounty of flowers and plants at the gardens.
