All of the Silver City gas stations are locally owned and operated. They are merely marketers who buy gas from others - with price markups all along the supply chain.

In other cities in NM, there are gas stations owned and operated by major oil companies. And guess what - there is real price competition between the majors and the locally owned stations.

Big, bad oil, you say, eh ? Doesn't seem so big and bad when gasoline is now 30 cents cheaper just down the road in Las Cruces.

$3.55/gallon. Just the price we all have to pay for having those Silver City gasoline profits stay within our community. Think about that next time you want to bash Walmart and tout the virtues of locally owned businesses.

Man do I miss the gas prices in Cape. It's the opposite of Silver City. Where SC always has the highest, Cape always had the lowest.
