The root canal was over in about an hour-and-a-half, though my dentist, Brian Gilbert, was performing three at the same time, so I don’t begrudge him that. I feel OK thus far, mostly because he’s a great dentist, and also, I think, because I have 800 mg of Ibuprofen in my system. So, we’ll see what happens when that starts to wear off.
Anyhoo, I’ve added a link for NM Sen. Dede Feldman’s blog to the ole blogroll there. I think more politicans should do blogs (I know several national figures keep diaries at Daily Kos) because it serves as an excellent tool for connecting with constituents.
For example, she’s posted the results of her annual survey today:
As of the day before the session, the Albuquerque Democrat has gotten 423 constituent responses to her annual questionnaire, which was sent to 4,250 voters in the North Valley, West Side and near Heights. Results are still coming in.
“It’s not a scientific survey but it gives me a feel for what people are thinking,” said Feldman. “And a 10% response rate is not bad for a survey of this type.”
Fully funding the state’s Medicaid program was the top priority for the state’s surplus revenue, followed by funding a $109 million salary package for New Mexico teachers. Eliminating waiting lists for services for the disabled, the elderly and children who are medically fragile was the third priority.
What a concept: an elected representative surveying her consituents, then posting the results for everybody to see on a blog! Anyhoo, she’s got up-to-date discussion on some of the issues before the Legislature this session, so go check her blog out.
